Aries Foundered hoof has changed & grown quite a bit since the last photos of
it on December 21, 2009.

Aries is now so mobile & full of energy when hes out of his paddock, that sometimes in his over
zealousness, he takes off running. 18 hands of giant black percheron, thundering Thur the
property. An awe inspiring sight, of course also one, we are working on preventing from occurring
again, but none the less, an amazing sight. He is still completely out of his boot inside his paddock
and he is offering to leave his paddock unbooted, fairly often. Hes amazing.

It was a long long winter, in reality and symbolically for Aries. Hes come out of it well. During the
period from Feb. to July, Aries struggled, both with his hooves, his skin and his body issues.
Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better. I think for now, hes finally at better.
We (Mary Maguire - Hoof trimmer) have been able to consistently trim all of Aries hooves, something
that for several months was very difficult to do. His entire laminar wedge has been removed, his
heels are coming down, and the hoof that is coming in, looks fairly healthy.
His old hoof boots finally gave out, this past month. We made due with a duct tape and pads for
while. They work ok for padding, but since they don't breath at all, his hoof stays damp and hot, not
a good thing. Linda Cowles - www.healthyhoof.com brought out a new giant RX boot for Aries, and it
worked perfectly. It actually seems to be the most comfortable he has been in a boot since he
arrived.
His skin issues are still a bit of a mystery, but with daily care they aren't much of a problem. He did
have to go back on wet feed. His intestines became very irritated, most likely from the needed use
fo banimine while trimming a while back. But on wet food, his intestines are happy and his poop
looks normal. He should be able to go back to hay soon. Below are some updated pics of Aries.
