Late March 2009
Below is a photo of Lotta prior to her diet change.  When this photo was taken, Lotta was eating approx.
20lbs of really low sugar orchard grass, it tested at 6.5% total sugar.  It also tested very low in Copper,
Zinc and manganese.  And the ratios of Calcium, phosphorus and Magnesium were all out of balance.
The hay was also at about 10 months old.  So Vit. E was almost non existent and Omegas, forget it.  She
was supplemented with our standard Dynamite Vitamin, a pro biotic, a little flax, a little BOSS, salt and a
calcium/phosphorus mixture as well as a trace mineral mixture.

Her coat was rough in many places and even wire like in others.  Her mane was thin as was her tail.  She
had really dark patches of hair on her face, neck and shoulder.  Her skin was dry and a little flaky.  Her
coat color was very washed out, she looked brown and yellow in places.

I began implementing Lottas diet changes in Feb. We started by adding sufficient Omega 3 & 6 fatty
acids.  I started her on Vit. E 2500IU's per day.  A few weeks later I began to balance her trace minerals,
I supplemented her diet with Copper, Zinc, Manganese - she has been on  a balanced ratio of these
trace minerals since May 1st.  It took several weeks to work up to the needed amounts, she wasn't
a fan of the taste.  I am still working up to fully balancing her major minerals, she is on increased
amounts of calcium and phosphorus, but again, because of the taste, we are adding increasing
amounts slowly.   Below is a photo of Lotta from earlier today.  The improvement in her coat, condition
and attitude is significant.  Notice the significant color change in just a couple of months.  She still has
a little discolored fuzz around the barrel, but I am certain once the balancing is complete, that will go.
May 28 2009  - 5 more days on her balanced diet, notice the color of her coat
intensifying.  Shes also lost most of the fuzz on her barrel and her coat is beginning
to get that very tight to the skin look.  No grooming heroics, just curried and brushed.

Lotta has been on a fully mineral balanced diet for a little over 3 and half months at this point.  Her
coat looks absolutely amazing.  The changes that I was not expecting are related to her joints and
mobility.  Lottas not a young girl, shes 21 this year and shes led a physically demanding life, an ex
reiner with the joint issues to go with it.  She has become so flexible compared to a few months ago.
She can really extend her head down toward the ground while moving, something that was
challenging before.  Her muscle tone is also just beautiful.  She doesn't look like a 21 yr. old horse.
Her hoof quality has vastly improved.  Her thinning mane and tail are also filling in.  The texture is
also significantly softer, you can even see this in the last photograph below
