Below is Missy, she is a Cremello Peruvian Paso. I met with her and her person in Mid June.
Missys issues are tender hooves, stretched white line, dull coat & somewhat corse coat, lack
of energy, sensitive skin, overweight, soreness in her hind end, muscles tight. Her diet
consisted of Wheat hay and platinum performance. She has access to lots of fresh water and a
salt block. She is lives on a dry lot by herself, with horses next to her for companionship. Her
job is as a pleasure horse. Her owner uses her actively for trail riding.
The first thing I suggested we change was to switch out her high sugar hay for a very low
sugar hay. The sugar in Wheat hay typically comes in at around 17 to 18% per Dairy Ones
seasonal average tables. The hay Missy is now eating is a tested orchard grass that the
sugars come in at 5 to 6%. This hay change was made in Mid June.
The next things we addressed were the things she is missing by living on a dry lot, Omega
fatty acids and Vitamin E. We added in the Omegas by giving her ground flax seed. Ground
Flax contains the fatty acids in appropriate ratios. We added the Vitamin E in the form of
human Vit. E gelcaps. She is currently getting approx. 1500IU's per day of Vit. E.
At the beginning of July, Missy began a mineral balanced diet. This is what her new diet
looked like:
Approx. 10lbs grass hay per day fed via slow feeder
2 cups grass pellets as a medium for minerals & vit's
4oz ground flax
Calcium 14grams
Copper 227mg (elemental)
Zinc 652mg (elemental)
Vitamin E = 4 (400mg) gelcaps
Lysine = 8 grams
Salt add ½ tablespoon reg. Iodized salt
I received this email from Missys owner on July 16, 2009
The trimmer trimmed Missy's feet this AM. She couldn't get over the change in 5 weeks, more
upright, hind are more rounded, able to pull her toes further back, etc. :-) Yeah!!!
Missy had been on low sugar hay for about 1 month by July 16. I will be going out to see Missy
and get updated Photos and information in the coming weeks. Her owner and I look forward to
her transformation.

I went out and saw Missy and her owner today. Missy has improved in several areas. The flies are
no longer covering her face. Her sensitive, watery eyes, are less so now. The white line on her
hooves looks amazing compared to a couple of months ago. Her coat texture is changing, becoming
softer. Shes dropped some weight. Below are some pictures from today.
